Each year, we coordinate a makeover event for individuals embracing and living with vitiligo. Participants are paired with makeup artists who enhance their looks, while Macy’s stylists help them showcase the latest summer fashion collection. The event culminates in a fashion show where women and youth proudly display their courage along with the summer styles from Macy’s. Attendees are treated to giveaways, light refreshments, and delicious tastings of the renowned sweet potato pie from Beloved Sweets. KK’s mom reached out to us when her daughter was being bullying at school at the age of nine. We visited her school at the request of her mom, to educate the staff about her condition. We were invited to her school to speak to the children in all of KK’s class so that they were aware of being kind and to say know to bullying. At #VitiligoBond, we developed programs aimed at boosting KK’s confidence and self-esteem. In collaboration with @Dermablend, we hosted an empowering self-esteem makeover event called ReVITalize for youth and adults from the Georgia/Atlanta area. The National Vitiligo Bond Inc Foundation aimed to create a fun atmosphere where participants could dance, enjoy themselves, and explore makeup options. Our members felt at ease trying out makeup and learning how to enhance their skin, whether with or without cosmetics.
