We had our first successful World Vitiligo Day event in Washington, DC on June 25th, 2016. These are pictures from some of our youth representing for our vitiligo community. Our youth was happy to see many people like them with vitiligo. This gave them hope and a sense of pride to know that they can overcome and that there is now a strong global vitiligo community support system for them. No matter if you are a youth or an adult or in a different country we all continue to speak the same message about being bullied or discriminated because of vitiligo. …

Vitiligo is a condition characterized by the loss of skin pigmentation, resulting in white patches on the skin. Many people may not be familiar with this condition. Congratulations Michigan! Michigan state is the 16th state added to our 2016 ‘Vitiligo Awareness Proclamation Campaign’. We would like to say a special thank you to Governor Rick Snyder and staff in helping us bring awareness to Vitiligo. Vitiligo is an autoimmune, non-contagious skin disorder that is generally misunderstood by the public. There is currently no funding for bringing awareness and very little funding for research for Vitiligo. People who live with Vitiligo are often discriminated against because of the white patches on their skin. Some of us live in shame because of the skin disorder. Adolescents are bullied at school.
